Why hello there, thank you for taking a moment to stalk me.  I began this blog because writing is my passion and I want to share it with you.  It’s instinctively ingrained into my being to create using words.  I have been writing novels since the age of 14, when I finished my first novel at a ridiculous 164,000 words. Ever since then I knew I wanted to be an author. I’m now a Creative Writing major and YA is my jam (not the kind you spread on toast). I firmly believe that YA can (and should) be enjoyed by readers of all ages.

I have been studying and practicing the craft of writing for 9 years and have learned a lot . I want to share this hard-earned knowledge with you. My aim is to equip you with the tools of the trade so you can write a spectacular story. Writing can be tough, but I want to inspire, encourage, and teach you during your journey. Although my blog is geared towards teens and those intending to write YA fiction, any writer will be able to apply the majority of these tips to their own work.

Some things you don’t know? Hmm… I love to teach myself new things, which is probably a result of being homeschooled since 3rd grade (yes, I did school work in my jammies. Be jealous.) and I am currently teaching myself French (oui, oui!). I enjoy archery and horseback riding and I have a strange obsession with mint (the color, not the candy. Although those are fantastic too).

I also have the insatiable urge to travel after studying abroad in Ireland, where I learned that when someone says they’re “on craic” (pronounced crack) it means they’re having a good time, not that they’re high on a certain drug.

Oh, and I’m obsessed with sheep. It’s my life’s goal to hug one of those fluffy little clouds with legs.

Why can’t hedgehogs just share the hedge?

Why yes, I do have a ball of spikes for a pet. And in case you haven’t noticed, she is a sexy model. (Draw me like one of your French girls, Jack). Camilla is my co-writer and editorial assistant (although we’re still working on her typing skills). She is an African Pygmy hedgehog and her pet peeve is being confused with a porcupine (yes, she is full-grown, and no, her quills do not stick in you).

Camilla is persnickety about grammar and her huffing helps keep my writing in check. She is also a sharp critic (har har). In her spare time she enjoys crunching on kitty kibble, running on her wheel, and napping. And don’t let the quills fool you–she is a fabulous snuggler.
